Can You File I-751 Online? Current Process and Fees

Yes. The current government information-collection approval includes an online PDF-upload option for Form I-751. The October 19, 2026 OIRA approval describes uploading a completed petition and supporting documents, paying any required fee, and filing the PDF online. Older categorical advice that I-751 can only be mailed is outdated. [1]

Rules that determine the answer

The current USCIS G-1055 fee schedule lists $750 for general paper I-751 filing and $700 for online filing, with a no-fee category for qualifying battery or extreme-cruelty joint-filing waivers and possible fee-waiver eligibility in specified cases. Verify the current charge and supported filing route for the particular request before payment; a general fee and an exempt filing are not interchangeable. [2]

The filing window remains important: a regular joint petition generally belongs in the ninety days before conditional residence expires, while waiver and individual-filing rules can differ. [3] Uploading documents to an existing case is also different from submitting and paying for a new petition. An IOE receipt or the ability to view a paper-filed case online does not prove that a new filing was completed. Review the final account confirmation and keep evidence of the actual filing date. If the filing basis involves divorce, abuse, death, or late submission, follow the specific instructions rather than force it into an ordinary joint-petition checklist.

What to do next

  1. Use the official USCIS account and select the available I-751 filing option.
  2. Complete the accepted form edition, required signatures, and the correct joint or waiver basis before uploading.
  3. Upload legible relationship, residence, financial, and other evidence relevant to the actual petition, with required translations.
  4. Pay or submit an eligible fee request as instructed, then save the submission confirmation, full uploaded packet, and receipt.

Practical example

A couple uploads a complete signed petition but only one month of evidence for a multiyear marriage. Online receipt does not establish the petition’s merits; evidence should address the genuine marriage over the relevant period.
